Dear Friends;
Welcome to the 2005 MI-OSA Kumar Purnima Celebrations. Please mark Nov 5, 2005 on your calendar, since that is the day that you will experience a taste of the cultural fest that defines our organization.
In preparation for the planning of the event, the MI-OSA cultural committee comprised of Swayam Kar, Mona Bhuyan, Leena Pattnaik, Jyostna Panda and Smriti Panda has created a set of guidelines, which will aid in the smooth execution of the Kumar Purnima cultural program. The goal of this event is to provide a forum for our children to be able to express themselves and their artistic abilities to the fullest. The Kumar Purnima program will be a blend of children and adults showcasing their talent.
The guidelines are as follows:
Performers: Performers must members of OSA-MI in order to participate. If you are not a member, but would like to participate in the program, please send in your OSA-MI membership or give it the area coordinator to pass it on.
Solo Performances: Due to timing constraints, we highly encourage group performances. Solo performances will be approved on a case-by-case situation, depending on the circumstance. Please contact your area coordinator regarding this issue. It will be decided by the cultural committee. Solo performances will be limited to 3 minutes.
Group Performance: Group Dance items should not exceed 5 minutes, however, groups with 7 or more performers will be allowed up to 8 minutes. A performer can participate in more than one item as long as it is a part of a group performance. An individual cannot participate in a group performance and a solo program. Artists ages 2-5 years, are encouraged to participate in the opening program.
Songs: While we would like to accommodate individual songs, we cannot accommodate this request due to shortage of time. Again, those who would like to sing are encouraged to perform as a group, not exceeding 5. Any background music should be made available on CD.
Drama/Skit: The agenda allows for 2 dramas (duration 15 minutes max). If we do not get submissions for 2 dramas, then the time will be allocated for dance/song items.
Music: All background music should be on a CD. We cannot accommodate cassettes at the moment. All music must be given to the area cultural coordinator no later than October 8, 2005. No exceptions will be allowed unless previously approved by Cultural Committee.
Program Deadline: All entries need to be submitted to your local area coordinator via email no later than October 8, 2005.
Entries should include: Names of the participants
Contact Number for lead coordinator of item
Name & Type of Item
Duration of item in minutes
Selection method: First Come First Served.
If you have any questions regarding the guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact your local area coordinator. The Cultural Committee meets once a week and will discuss your issue at the meeting and get back to you. There will be further announcements coming from us to all of you as we proceed with our planning effort. We look forward to hearing from you.
Thank You
The 2005 OSA-MI Cultural Committee.
