| Last Sunday, 14th Aug 2005, Orissa Society of Michigan Chapter participated in India Day function at the Novi Expo Center, Novi, MI. The function was organized by India league, MI. The whole day program marked by a parade representing various colors of India. Kids of MI, OSA participated as different Indian National leaders. The march was lead by Niki Senapati, Suman Panda and Mona Bhuyan with flags of India, USA and Michigan.
Oriyas had their booth among other booths from different state associations and various organizations. This time, along with displaying Orissa art and craft they also sold goods donated to MI-OSA from various members.
There was food and fun all over. Local businesses and businesses from neighboring metros also had their booths.
Ananya Kar a fourth grade student of Canton, presented Odissi, Mangala Charana. For last couple of years she has been representing MI-OSA at various cultural events. There were cultural programs by other associations and Indian youth groups from various local Universities. |
